One Memorable Turn of Events

It was Thursday morning. Hubby was still suffering from a bothersome health issue that caused him to wake up late. He was sluggish but he still wanted to go with me. I was anxious but agreed to have him onboard. It was almost 6:30 a.m., which was already late, when we headed for work. My mind was rushing with different scenarios that might come our way: the heavy traffic, the unavailable parking space, and my 8:00 a.m. class.

Lo, and behold, what I feared the most, happened! Murphy's law took effect with the heavy and long-standing traffic that caused us to arrive on campus by 7:40 a.m. Since we came in late, the usual parking spot that we used to park has already been occupied. We had no choice but to drive further away from my office building. Thank God there was still a number of slots open. Once we've parked, hubby expressed he needed to go; I ended up bringing all the stuff (two backpacks, one lunch bag, one hand carry and my shoulder bag). In a hurry, I walked ahead of hubby who walked at his own pace. Sunset has started to peek. I suddenly realized and got stricken by the beauty of the amber-colored trees around the campus. Ah, it's fall season and the leaves have started to swing and sway as the wind slowly brings them down to the ground. If only I'm not in a hurry, I could have seized the moment.

We made it to my office. I got busy for my class and the day went by so quickly that it was already time to go home. Then, I remembered the scenic walkway earlier that day. I wanted to have a photo of the beautiful trees so I made sure that I took a few shoots before we headed back to the car. Of course, we also took selfies of us with the fallen leaves in the background! Then, I thought, why not continue with that positive vibes by stopping by at the Union Market for a quick bite. Well, we later on decided to just bring home the grilled salmon BLT sandwiches to share with our folks for dinner.

The day might have started a bit lousy but such dreaded feeling declined once I chose to take another perspective of the situation that we were in. As for hubby, he was the cool guy!

One April month

It was a one-of-a-kind trip cycle , if there’s such a phrase as that as my good-natured Filipina friend and I flew down to South Florida from the Northeast. We went around the place by land. Then we crossed the sea on board a cruise ship to Bahamas. We went back to Florida on cruise, toured the city by land again before heading back home by plane. It all happened in three different places for seven nights and eight days. One nature tripping day Our trip to Ft. Lauderdale, FL last April 14-17 was mostly spent on nature tripping. My friend and I went to a fishing port somewhere in Palm Beach Shore; we had a chance to see different kinds and sizes of fishes in the open sea aquarium while looking at them from the boardwalk. When I think of NYC, it reminds me of soaring skyscrapers, the musicals in Broadway, the solid Statue of Liberty, the historic Ellis Island, the verdant Central Park, the blinking lights at Time Square, the memorable Empire State, the American heritage Hudson River, the financial districts of Wall Street, the diversed people hustling and bustling in broad day light, the blowing of horns in busy streets, the colorful and dancing lights at night, to name a few. There seems to be endless activities going on 24/7! No wonder it is well-known as the City that Never Sleeps.
